Background: Sapphire was born and is currently being raised in Ponyville by/with his parents. As a baby, he was brought everywhere and was seen by nearly everypony in his family, and by strangers. His parents we're proud to finally have a foal, so likewise, they'd show him off and sometimes brag about him. This may have caused them to treat Sapphire as "royalty" at times, making him a somewhat spoiled child. Sapphire grew up in a safe home, but at times, the home got slightly heated. His parents do argue, slightly more then any average family would. Usually, when his so called "mommy and daddy fight time" (the arguing), goes on, he locks himself in his room and draws or reads. When he turned 8, his parents finally got their relationship under control, so, there was less conflict in the house. However, he held on to his private time to draw or read. He found a huge passion and enjoyment in doing one or the other.
Sapphire is home schooled, unlike most foals. His father teaches him mathematics, history (what little he knows about it) and science, while his mother teaches him English, basic magic spells, and tries to teach him how to have a social life outside of his home. Usually, each social "lesson" (if you will), consists of him and his mother going out for about an hour or so, and spending time with his extended family (cousins, mostly). His mom teaches him to interact with his fellow cousins while she goes in the other room and talks to his aunts and uncles. This is the main reason why Sapphire doesn't have many friends, or goes outside much. He feels he needs to be in regular school, around other colts and fillies. He has expressed this to his parents a couple of times, and they declined and shot down the idea before he could explain why he wants to go to school; this lead him to not to question his parents about school much longer, though, he still wants to try.
Sapphire does not know much magic spells, except the very basics, like out to pick up small objects, and barely light up a dark room with his aurora. Currently, Sapphire is 11, still home schooled, still wanting to go to regular school.
Personality: Full of life and energy; excited, yet quiet. Sapphire doesn't spend much of his time doing anything with anypony. However, he usually spends his time spending time with his parents and the couple of friends that he made in school. When a pony gets to know Sapphire, one can easily spot his comfortable joking attitude he has around his friends and family. Around family, he's a kind, gentle colt. He uses his manners nearly all the time. Although, he can make rather dumb decisions, like any foal would.
