* Twilight Sparkle rolls her eyes, realizing her attempt at being friendly was completely shunned. "Oh well... Trixie will be Trixie, I suppose..." She sighs and shrugs, levitating a quill and paper upstairs into her room and preparing to reply to the Princess.* [12:32 AM]
* Trixie shakes her head. "I... actually sold my second cart to buy the amulet... so no." She starts for the door. "I won't take any charity from you." She smirks. "We are still rivals, you know. I only came back to make sure you didn't screw up with the amulet." She laughs a little and leaves.* [12:29 AM]
* Twilight Sparkle grins slightly, knowing Trixie had taken something from what she was trying to show her. "Glad to hear it... I think, like me, you'll find it pretty nice here in Ponyville!" She giggles, "Do you have somewhere to sleep?"* [12:25 AM]
* Trixie looks down while she thinks. "I think... it would be best to stay here. Somepony has to make sure you don't do something stupid with that magic after all, and set the record straight that I'm not evil like that amulet."* [12:23 AM]
* Twilight Sparkle nods slowly. "Y-yes, hopefully so. Thank you, Trixie... I couldn't have done that alone." She smiles, "Are you going to stay in Ponyville for a while, or back on the road?"* [12:17 AM]
* Trixie shakes her head. "I... I'm fine. It'll take more than some stupid spell to break the Great and Powerful Trixie..." She sounds defeated, like she's not even trying to hide anything. "Is that all you needed?"* [12:15 AM]
* Twilight Sparkle follows Trixie up the stairs into the basement, the sub-basement fading back to solid floor upon them both stepping hoof onto the true ground. "Trixie... I know what that's like... are you alright? You... didn't look too good."* [12:13 AM]
* Trixie looks at Twilight with probably the most pained expression she's ever shown in a long time. She tries to speak but can't find the right words. She simply nods to the last question, stands up, and starts to leave, just wanting to be as far away from that amulet as possible.* [12:10 AM]
* Twilight Sparkle quickly shakes her head after being shoved away, her vision clearing and coming back to normal. She catches Trixie, clearly staring downward at what is presumably the amulet and rushes over, pushing the mare back and onto the floor. "Careful..! Now, you see what that spell does to ponies? That's what Sombra's magic is like."* [12:08 AM]
* Trixie tilts her head. "Umm... Twilight?" She shoves the purple unicorn away from the wall. "What is with you? The spell failed?" She glances over her shoulder, barely catching a glimpse of the amulet. She starts to see her own fears... things she always tried to bury, hide from, and ignore.* [12:03 AM]
* Twilight Sparkle takes another deep breath, looking over at the amulet. "Here goes..." With another green-to-purple spark of her horn, her eyes again turn to the ghastly red and green of Sombra's magic. Focusing carefully, she lifts the amulet and casts the spell upon it which she had encountered on the door of the Crystal Castle. The amulet gleams green for a moment before falling quickly onto the ground. As it clatters amongst the stones, the same memories of worst fears flood into Twilight's mind, causing tears to form on the bottom of her eyes, unable to look away from the now-cursed amulet. "W-why... f-failed? B-b-but... I-I..."* [11:57 PM]
* Trixie nods. "Yes, yes, keep you from the amulet when you do your weird magic and don't look at you." She trots down the stairs. "You act like the Great and Powerful Trixie would mess something up."* [11:52 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle blinks quickly, nodding as she trots down the new stairs. "Yes... that was King Sombra's magic." She looks at the empty floor at the bottom of the stairs. "Okay, you can put the amulet down here. Now, listen to me VERY carefully..." She stares back at Trixie, looking the mare straight in the eye, "When I cast this next spell, I need you to push me away from the amulet once the magic hits it. Once you do... don't look at the amulet, and don't look in my eyes until I tell you." She looks away, "Got all of that?"* [11:47 PM]
* Trixie takes a few steps back, her ears flattened and her expression clearly showing something like fear and being unnerved. "W-well... I admit... I have never seen that before. I didn't even think of something like that with the amulet. This was that King Sombrero's magic?"* [11:42 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle takes in a deep breath, glancing down at the floor as her horn glows green, then violet. The pupils of her eyes turn a bloody red, this color spreading throughout her entire iris, then surrounded by a neon green. A trail of purple magic rises from the corners of her eyes, and the floor suddenly disappears somewhat, showing a set of stairs heading further downward.* [11:39 PM]
* Trixie raises a brow. "Are you suggesting the Great and Powerful Trixie would be scared of some stairs. Oooh, how horrifying!" She puts her hooves on her cheeks in mock fear.* [11:36 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle sighs quickly, collecting her breath. "Okay... so I'm going to cast a spell, which will make a set of stairs appear here in the floor. For now, just follow me down them." She looks around, "...and this might be a bit scary, at least... it is for me..."* [11:27 PM]
* Trixie follows her down the stairs. "Okay... and what might that be?" She looks at the strange science equipment, not really sure what to make of any of it.* [11:24 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle pulls open the door to the Library, trotting inside and heading down the stairs into the basement. "I'll need you to help me in just a minute..."* [11:20 PM]
* Trixie doesn't look terriby convinced, but she doesn't press it any further. "Alright... well... now we're almost here and you haven't told me any sort of plan yet."* [11:18 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle nods, "...and making friends is a great way to gain forgiveness from ponies. Much like practicing magic... it just takes time!" She turns down the street on which the Library resides.* [11:15 PM]
* Trixie rolls her eyes. "I'm not looking for friendship... I... I was wanting to make sure everypony knew that I didn't mean for things to get so out of hoof. And..." she mutters the rest quietly.* [11:12 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle rolls her eyes. "I wouldn't call it gifted... just lucky, perhaps." She shrugs, "Anyways, I wanted you to come along for a few reasons. First, I was hoping you'd feel a little less... hostile, around me? If there's one thing I learned since I moved to Ponyville... it's that the magic of friendship is more powerful than any other. I'd much prefer if we were friends rather than enemies, Trixie!"* [11:08 PM]
* Trixie sighs in relief at the sight of Ponyville in the distance. "Whatever. I'm just glad to be out of this stupid forest. Why anypony would live here is beyond me." She looks a Twilight with a more serious look. "Now, if you are so... gifted... then what was your real reason for having me come along?"* [11:03 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle quickly glances back, a stern look on her muzzle. "..You'd be surprised." Having moved much quicker through the forest on the return trip, the lights of Ponyville quickly being to grow brighter through the trees.* [10:59 PM]
* Trixie shrugs. "If you say so..." She doesn't really seem to get it at all. "Of course nopony would use this thing if they knew everything it did."* [10:55 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle begins to trot back towards Ponyville, quicker than before. "But don't you see? If Zecora was going to let you have that back... she knew you had learned something... a lesson, about what that can do! She knew you wouldn't return to attempt using it again, Trixie... she trusts you, too!"* [10:50 PM]
* Trixie looks even more confused. "You act as if I'm somepony who couldn't be trusted." She pauses for a second, then shakes her head again. "I... only wanted to humiliate you like you did to me... not... go as far as the amulet made me."* [10:47 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle giggles sheepishly. "Well, we need to bring that back to the Library now, actually." She smirks, "You know, Trixie... Zecora being willing to give you that means something..."* [10:43 PM]
* Trixie eyes Twilight curiously. "... very well..." She trots up to the hut and knocks. A moment later it opens, Trixie enters, and returns a few moments later with a small chest and a somewhat confused look on her face. "... you really do know strange ponies, Twilight." She shakes her head. "What are we doing with it now?"* [10:41 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle shakes her head. "No, Zecora would't try anything like that..." She grins, "In fact, she probably knew we were coming. Why don't you go inside and ask her for it?"* [10:31 PM]
* Trixie shakes her head slightly to clear her thoughts when the hut comes into sight. "S-so you think this... zebra... will not have tried using the amulet for herself?"* [10:28 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle stops telling her story, noticing the change in the mare's demeanor. She faintly sighs herself, nudging a hoof on the showmare's chin, "Trixie... don't feel bad about it... really, all it takes is constant determination, never letting yourself give up... and practice." A trail of smoke rises from a hut, Zecora's, not too far in front of them.* [10:24 PM]
* Trixie lowers her head as she continues alongside Twilight. "... that explains... a lot... and I was so..." She sighs and goes silent.* [10:18 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle laughs, louder now, and motions with a hoof for Trixie to continue alongside her. "When I was a filly, growing up in Canterlot... my parents had me try out for the Princess' magic school. I always liked to study, so they felt I knew the material enough to pass..."* [10:16 PM]
* Trixie stops dead in her tracks with a blank stare after sputtering for a moment. "Yo-- He-- Stu-- Wha--?"* [10:11 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle arches an eyebrow, stopping for a moment. "Wait a second... you're never..." She giggles softly. "I get letters from the Princess, regularly, because... she's my teacher! I originally came to Ponyville on an assignment from her, in fact!" With a slight blush of embarrassment for her 'boasting', she continued towards Zecora's hut.* [10:08 PM]
* Trixie rolls her eyes. "This is one of the strangest places I have ever been..." She shakes her head. "And what's the deal with you get a letter from the Princess? Although, I suppose I... would have had her attention..." She laughs a bit sheepishly.* [10:04 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle chuckles awkwardly, sighing again. "This is where I came after I couldn't get into Ponyville, yes... Zecora is one of the wisest ponie- er, zebras I know!"* [10:00 PM]
* Trixie laughs slightly. "As if Trixie would be so stupid." She wasn't about to admit she had no idea what Twilight was talking about. "Is this where you... ermm... went after... you know...?"* [09:57 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle groans under her breath, rolling her eyes. "It's really nothing to be scared of, so that's good..." Taking a long stride, she steps into the thicket of trees, "...just watch out for the Poison Joke!"* [09:52 PM]
* Trixie hesitates a second. "Ugh... of course you would drag me to the Everfree Forest..." She quickly puts up her usual facade. "Though the Great and Powerful Trixie is not scared."* [09:50 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle nods slowly. "Yes, you could call it that... certainly something nopony should consider messing around with." As the reached the end of the road, the dark trees of the Everfree Forest loomed ahead. "Zecora should still have the amulet. Her house is straight this way..." With a hoof, she points into the forest, directly ahead of her.* [09:46 PM]
* Trixie tilts her head. "What, some kind of dark magic? Even the Great and Powerful Trixie wouldn't dare mess with something like that."* [09:43 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle shakes her head quickly, clearing her throat. "No. King Sombra was a unicorn with a heart as black as night... he practiced an evil magic, one which instilled overwhelming fear on those it was used against... including myself, however indirectly." She sighs, folding her ears back as she recalls her encounter with the door he had cursed, "Using his magic was necessary in overcoming him. I should be able to use it here, too... though I wish I didn't need to..."* [09:38 PM]
* Trixie raises a brow. "King who now? Is he from Mexipony?"* [09:32 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle nods in return. "I do... though it's a bit dangerous. Are you familiar with the magic of King Sombra?" She turns to follow another street, heading towards the outskirts of Ponyville.* [09:23 PM]
* Trixie nods. "That thing definitely needs to go..." She looks to the side as they trot. "Do you have any ideas?"* [09:21 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle smiles supportively, levitating the door open and trotting outside. "It's okay Trixie, we know it wasn't you doing those things... it was that amulet -- which is exactly why we must do something about it!"* [09:16 PM]
* Trixie flattens her ears and scowls. "You know it wasn't my fault -mutters- exactly -normal- that that happened. Besides, they're the ones who brought the Ursa that ruined my life before, so now we're even."* [09:11 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle smirks, levitating her saddlebags from near the door and onto her back. "Just wanted to make sure you weren't expecting anypony to pull a wheel-less carriage! Some colts claimed that wasn't too fun to do."* [09:08 PM]
* Trixie rolls her eyes. "Of course. I've only been 'hoofing it' since my last time in Ponyville." She gets up and follows Twilight.* [09:05 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle nods, a grin growing as she thinks of an idea. "Actually, Trixie... I may have learned some magic which would be quite effective for this, even from the Princess herself!" She giggles for a moment, then looks over towards the door, "We'll have to go get the amulet first... you up for hoofing it..?"* [09:02 PM]
* Trixie reads over the letter quickly. "Well, because it's so dangerous, it should probably be destroyed. Or at least hidden somewhere that some stupid shop pony can't find it..." She looks rather annoyed.* [08:57 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle smiles cordially, levitating the half-rolled letter over towards Trixie. "Here. We need to make some sort of plan... an outline... something to show how this will work." She scratches at her mane for a moment, looking away and essentially talking to herself, "How will this work, anyhow?"* [08:52 PM]
* Trixie trots inside without a second thought, quickly scanning the room. She goes to a desk and sits down, waiting for the letter.* [08:50 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle chuckles for a moment, shaking her head before stepping back inside. "Well, they do say two ponies are better than one! Come in, you should read the Princess' letter too."* [08:46 PM]
* Trixie pauses for a moment, processing what had just been said. "Yes, of course. I was here to do something about that, and of course even you would need the help of the Great and Powerful Trixie to get rid of it." Her own smirk grew into one of confidence at the mention of her self-given title.* [08:44 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle stands at the door for a moment, defensively arched forward, before thinking through what the showmare had just said. "The Alicorn amulet was... -is- very dangerous, Trixie..." She slowly relaxed, a faint smirk growing on the corner of her muzzle. "...so much so, in fact, that I just received a letter from the Princess about it. Maybe... you could... help me?" She tilted her head as she proposed the question, hoping the mare would accept.* [08:41 PM]
* Trixie stares at Twilight for a second, expecting some kind of response, but hearing none immediately she clears her throat. "A-hem... h-hello again, Twilight. I nearly forgot that Alicorn Amulet you took from me." She puts on a faint, but strained, smile.* [08:37 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle glances up from her letter, hearing a knock on the door outside. She places the parchment back on the desk , trotting over to the door and opening it with her magic.* [08:33 PM]
* Trixie trots up to the door to the Library and stares at it for a moment. 'She's already forgiven you, Trixie, and she will need your help.' She nods an affirmation to herself before she knocks on the door rather loudly.* [08:31 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle quickly glances over the letter from the Princess. "Alicorn amulet... too dangerous to be hidden away due to recent events... find a way to neutralize the threat..." With a sigh, but still holding out determination, she tried to think of a plan.* [08:28 PM]
* Trixie trots back into town, towards the Library, with her head low, not that she can hide well with her hat and cape.* [08:23 PM]
* Twilight Sparkle trots downstairs in the Library, her eye catching a royal scroll left upon the desk. With a curious stare, she trots over to it, pulling back the seal and levitating it in front of her as she begins to read.* [08:19 PM]
