Cutie Mark: The cutie mark represents Stix's ability to mentally break something down to the basics and analyse it. This isn't some kind of super power, this is a talent. He can look at almost any system and easily observe how the various components affect each other and interact to produce the final result. This talent is used primarily in problem solving. Putting it simply: Stix has a talent for analysis and reasoning. This can apply to almost any system, but almost exclusively to subjects Stix has studied or done some degree of research. The magnifying glass shows analysis and deep investigation, while the stick represents the basics of things. It's in a cross shape showing that they are combined. And also they together are a visual representation of his nickname.

Cutie Mark Story: Stix was one of the last in his class to get a cutie mark. He would be teased everyday about it, but it rarely bothered him because his mind was always preoccupied thinking. He always knew he had a talent for analysis, but never felt particularly interested in doing anything even remotely related. Stix never really had a talent for magic either, and so felt useless as a unicorn. He could use basic telekinesis, but not much else. One day the teasing at school went too far and they destroyed one of Stix's favorite toys. Crying, Stix ran home and refused to go to school for several days. One day, Stix's closest friend visited with a gift - it was his broken toy. Stix's friend had attempted to repair the toy, and from the outside it looked fine, but the mechanics inside would not work properly. Stix was grateful that his friend had attempted to repair his toy, but frustrated that it wasn't working correctly. After some time, Stix eventually decided to have a proper look at his toy, he looked inside and quickly discovered why the toy wasn't working. Stix repaired it and that was when he discovered his cutie mark.

Background: Stix and his parents moved to Ponyville when Stix was very young. As Stix grew up he became close friends with one of his older classmates. Stix formed a very close bond with his friend, and never bothered to hang around with anypony else. At almost 17, Stix's parents decided it would be best to move to another town to continue their business (you know: supply and demand). They knew how attached to his friend Stix was that they offered to allow Stix to remain living in Ponyville. Stix accepted. As time passed, Stix started to become mroe comfortable interacting with other ponies, as a result of his new-found independence. Stix also soon discovered the library as a powerful source of information, and visited it frequently until Twilight started living there. After some time, Stix's closest friend announced that he was moving to Canterlot to join the Royal Guard. This shocked and scared Stix to a degree, but his friend assured him that he was ready to start interacting with other ponies and that it was time to start making new friends.

Personality: Everypony described Stix as a pony who always thought outside the box. They didn't know how right they really were. Stix is almost literally unable to think inside of the box. As a result Stix often finds it difficult copping under normal social situations, but is always trying to learn by observation. This means that sometimes Stix will sometimes say something weird, or will otherwise remain unusually silent. Stix is very methodical, and is always analysing and thinking.
