Background: Snips lived in Ponyville all his life. When he was 5, he met a young pony named Snails when he first started school. The two colts clicked instantly, sharing the same views, interests and beliefs. When it comes to competitions, Snips puts up a good fight. He's determined to win, even if it's silly and not important. Snips likes the feeling of winning.
Snips is a young colt, still going to school with Snails. Snips likes the explore. He knows the town better then Snails. In fact, Snips is the reason Snails can even get around town sometimes.
Snips lives house, not far from school, but far enough where he takes a good walk there and back. Sometimes, after school, he doesn't go straight home, due to the path he takes, he sometimes goes out and explore a bit.
Personality: Snips is a eager, excitable, small, bit chubby goofy pony. The littlest of good news can make him excited and jump up and down. He's known to make dumb decisions sometimes. The adventures he goes on with Snails are usually thought up by him. They usually end up bad, causing either Snips or Snails to get hurt. Other times, they're innocent, fun and safe.
Snips knows basic magic abilities, like how to levitate small items, use a pair of scissors and likes Snails, use his aura to light up a dark place. Since Trixie (or the G and PT) is a big influence on him, he tends to think about her magic spells whenever his performing one himself.

Snips' parents are hair (mane) stylist. His father taught him how to give a proper haircut at a very young age. His mother taught him how to properly care for one's mane later in his life. With that knowledge, Snips decided one day to give himself a haircut. He took special precautions before he used a pair of silver scissors to cut his mane. He sat down in front of a mirror and looked at himself and pondered how he should start. With his magic, he levitated the pair of scissors over his head and began cutting. Carefully, he cut his hair to a point where it was proper enough to call it a full haircut. Once he was done, he ran to his parents and jumped up and down, showing his parents his first haircut. Snips' parents were very proud of him, then his mother asked him when he got his cutie mark. Snips looked back at his flank as his cutie mark appeared. A pair of silver scissors.
