Short rant about what is fair.

No, I won't rant about how sad I am or how forum destroyed my life.
It's just, on our studies, my group of students contains 32 people. We have to split in two diffrent groups. So, it's 16 and 16. But, there is a problem...The limit is 15. Two students must leave. For what ? "Just because".
So, our group leader proposed that we take out one by random. But, really ? What if someone who really cares about his/hers studies has to leave, because he/she was unlucky? UNFAIR.
I protested. Gave names of two people in our group who didn't give a shit about studies during this semester. Said that they should leave, because they weaken the group. What response I got ? That I'm unfair because I want to get rid of two people so I won't have to leave.
Now, our leader doesn't like me, and since she gets to decide who has to leave, my studies are in danger.
Who is unfair ?

I dunno, is it really more fair to focus directly on 2 individuals rather than have a truly random process? Admittedly then everyone is in danger, but it's still fairer than ousting someone specifically
Also can't you just split into 2 groups of 11 and a group of 10?

No, it's not fair,because those two people will most likely quit studies next semester, so they will just take up place... And groups. It's not for us to decide, sadly.

Okay, thread update. After talking publicly to our leader and students that were interested in conclusion to this problem, we managed to type out two people ( the ones I wanted to kick ). It was decided, because they did not reply to our comments and calls these two days. It was very important. If they did not care for the outcome, then we don't care as well.
Brutal, but everyone want something... This was the most neutral way to do it.
Also, I get to stay, so I'm happy.
