OC: Heartsong
Name: Heartsong
Species: Earth Pony
Approximate age: 24
Picture and/or Description: Average height with a light orange coat and a light blue mane
Background: Heartsong was born in Ponyville to his parents, Carmen and Victus. At a very young age, Victus left on a trip around Equestria and never returned. Carmen raised Heartsong by herself which was, admittedly, fairly easy. Heartsong developed into a very independent pony while he was still a colt. Heartsong became very focused and generally kept to himself which made for a rather quiet childhood. One day, Heartsong was walking by himself through the Everfree Forest when he stumbled upon a fellow colt who had tripped and broken his leg. Having studied basic first aid, Heartsong quickly constructed a splint and set the pony’s leg back in place. On that day, Heartsong obtained his cutie mark – a Rod of Asclepius. Heartsong rushed home to announce proudly to his mother that he had found his calling. He excitedly collected his things, said goodbye, and ran off to the medical academy in Canterlot.
At the medical academy, Heartsong performed well but had trouble connecting with his fellow students. He eventually grew to believe himself better than his peers and became arrogant, further separating himself from the other students. Heartsong graduated near the top of his class but, having made no real ties to his classmates in Canterlot, he elected to travel back to Ponyville.
Heartsong has begun his residency at Ponyville General and has been trying to branch out, but he is still standoffish at best and often cold. He enjoys taking walks through the Everfree Forest and spending his nights with a good book.
Cutie Mark: Powder Blue / Orange Rod of Asclepius (The Rod of Asclepius was carried by the son of Apollo – Asclepius – who was a minor deity of medicine and healing. Hippocrates, the “father” of Western medicine is said to have worshipped Asclepius. Over time, the Rod of Asclepius and the caduceus - the twin snakes around a winged staff - were confused and the caduceus is often mistaken for being the symbol of medical practice.)
I’ll probably use this for both forums and shoutbox.
