No, I guess you won't.
You shouldnt give up so easily.
I spose I should have a go at this....
There are many "good" jobs that don't require math. Many adults don't even remember how to do algebra.
http://www.wolframalpha.com/ should get you through Calc II.
@VG_Addict, math =/= life, job and stuff
You don't have to be a math genius to get a job.
Just saying...
First of all.
You're too negative, I didnt even want to reply because you're so freaking negative, like you don't even give a fuck anymore.
But I pity you, I really do.
First you complain about a sleeping disorder without even listening to us to go see a doctor.
But I digress.
Easy, just keep trying, if you don't get it, ask for help, because I doubt you're doing that.
To summarize.
Stop being so negative.
Thank the gods for calculators.
But there aren't any good paying majors that aren't math.
I'm doomed to get a low paying job.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
This is bullshit.
Law.
Psychology.
Medicine.
I swear to god you're a good troll.
ffs.
You deserve a shit job with your attitude because you couldn't last one day in a good job with it.
You'd get fired straight away.
Change yourself or you're not going to get anything done.
Yes, you are.
He never does dude. He only ever posts L&R threads about some problem he is having. He asks for advice, then blatantly ignores all of it. No matter what advice is offered or logic is used, he shoots it down as if he has a problem for every solution. He's either using L&R to troll, or he is just beyond help.
I say we just agree with him and see what happens with that. I figure best case scenario, he gets pissed with us and fixes it to prove us wrong. Worst case scenario, nothing happens, he at least agrees with us for once, his problem doesn't get fixed and he at least gets to feel good that he was right about something.
You need to do more research, just saying.
Anything that involves physical sciences generally requires high level math, usually at least calculus. That includes biology, chemistry, and physics (especially physics). So psychology and medicine are out because they require biology and chemistry. Psychology also uses a bit of statistics. For that matter, most social sciences like business and economics require calculus as well. Not really sure about law. So there aren't many career fields that you can get away with anything less than calculus, so @VG_Addict is right to some degree that it limits his options, but that doesn't mean there are none. You could major in something like english, foreign languages, history, or sociology, and while those career fields aren't usually glamorous, if you have talent you might be able to make something in the field of literature if you have the talent (say, you could become a famous writer or actor), or you could make a lot of money as a translator.
Then I guess I'll be stuck with a low-paying job.
I can barely do algebra.
English, foreign languages, history, and sociology are useless degrees.
I might as drop out of college.
I'm majoring in Business Management, which requires math like @Electromancer said, I have a hard time with algebra too but it's all a matter of taking the time to LEARN
But I had a brain injury at birth that makes math hard for me.
I was in resource math all through school.
Maybe I could be happy working at a fast food restaurant.
Yes it is. Any employer would rather you succeed at earning a degree regardless of how practical it is than to fail at getting one altogether. Or worse, not even trying at all. It shows that you're motivated and hard working enough to learn a specialized skill.
Like everyone else has been saying, your own attitude is hurting you more than any kind of mental deficiency ever could. As long as you believe that you'll never be good at math, you won't be. It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy.
But I was in resource math all throughout school.
All the GOOD paying jobs require math.
I won't be able to get a good job with an English, foreign language, history, or sociology major.
I'll never contribute to society with those kinds of majors. Those majors aren't considered valuable.
So? There's two things you can do about that. Either get help and put more effort into it so you can improve, or you can avoid math and find something else.
You're generalizing too much. Yes, math based majors are in high demand because of the increase in technology, but that doesn't mean those majors don't have a place. If you're worried about how much those jobs pay, I would do some research on the subject. I can give you a few suggestions, but I'm sure you can find plenty of other options.
But my major will be seen as a joke.
Most of the physical and social sciences require math, so my options are limited.
I might as well not get a degree at all.
You wanna know what will make you fail? Your attitude. DON'T insult those with those majors, as many valuable people of society and with well paying jobs have just those degrees. My degree will most likely be history or political science. Stop being such a jerk.
Well, the options I have won't be good.
What other options do I have for a degree?
But you said the majors I could take aren't that glamorous.
Can I just remind everyone to stay respectful towards each other :giggle:
@VG_Addict, can I ask what your brain injury actually is? Because that's all you've ever said is "brain injury" That's vague enough to be just about anything.
Do you have down syndrome or something (which would actually explain your shortness as well), or were you just playing in the backyard one day and took a baseball to the head? Because I think what you're really trying to say is "I don't like math, I don't want to go to college, and I don't want to try". If so, that's perfectly fine too. We need people to flip or burgers. McDonald's doesn't run itself you know.
