Down The Deep Mine Shaft
A hollowed-out market booth stands in Ponyville Square. But, instead of a rising pair mom-and-pop jelly salesponies, or a mysterious purveyor of potions and spellbooks, inside resides a young mare, no more than 21. She looks around, a bit anxiously, a meticulously crafted sign hanging from the front of the stand.
The words SIGNUP are emblazoned on the sign, and the mare wears a classic-style mining helmet, headlight included. Her mane is frazzled, and she looks tired. But, oddly excited, as if refusing to acknowledge her fatigue. A small business-style placard rests on the counter, the name Blinkie Pie adorning it.

Down The Deep Mine Shaft
Venture down into an old abandoned mining shaft with your experienced tour guide, Ms. Blinkie Pie. The journey will be perilous, but, you may just make it out a whole lot richer.
* If you are reading this, WELCOME! And, I personally thank you for taking the time to look at my thread.
* This is an RP thread for those wishing for a bit more action in their adventure RPs.
*The main reasons this is in the Grimdark section
1. There is going to be a little more violence, but not too much more.
2. Being underground for a long period of time causes the brain to act oddly, so there may be a bit of psychological terror.
3. The danger is a bit higher, as are the stakes. Ponies may lose control of their mouths and spout off something foul. That's perfectly fine.
* First come first serve on spots, so hurry up and join, join, join!
* Just have fun and enjoy the thrill!
* Dropping in and out will be tolerated, but you better have a reason!
* Have fun, and let's strike gold, people!
(Disclaimer: No, this will not be like Minecraft. Yes, there will be some creatures, but no creepers or zombies, just spiders and snakes and bats. We will not build houses and craft items.)
Good Luck, and have fun!

Red Dreamer was walking throughout Ponyville's shopping district when she noticed a shop different from all the others. Piquing her interest, she walked over to the shop.
"So, eh, what exactly do you do here?" she asked the pony running the shop.
-
The young earth pony grinned, and pulled out a sheet.
"Good evening!"
The mare procured a pen, and placed it next to the paper.
"Would you like to partake in an adventure with me? I'm leading an expedition to an abandoned mine shaft not too far outside of Ponyville. It will be dangerous, but there is an opportunity to make quite a bit of bits.."
She smirked, and relaxed a bit, shifting her weight off and on opposite sides of her haunches.
"All I need from you is a 50 bit deposit and your signature and you're set! Full equipment, food, and friendship will be supplied. You may or may not get a terrible case of cabin fever."
-
"Hmmmmmm.... Red thought about it for a few minutes before pulling out the money and slapping it on the counter.
"Sounds like fun!" she finally said, as she signed the paper, grinning.
-
Blinkie Pie beamed, taking the mare's bits.
"I assure you, you've made a fine choice!"
She then begins to rummage around in the back of her stand.
Then, she pokes her head over the counter.
"Just stay in the park, we need some more ponies to sign up. If you'd like to chat, though, I'm here."
-
"Not like I had anything else to do! Red laughed. "Name's Red Dreamer, and you are?" she asked the other pony.
-
The young mare smiled, and extended a hoof.
"My name's Blinkie Pie. I'm a rock farmer, miner, and salespony."
She examines a small chunk of jade on her counter.
"What do you do for a living, miss Red Dreamer?"
-
Whim was walking through town on his day off from working when he spied a curious pony with interesting attire and a booth asking him to sign up for something. She seemed to be engrossed in a conversation with a red pony who seemed quite enthusiastic. Whim came up just after the red pony introduced herself as Red Dreamer. Whim was careful, trying not to look too interested until he had a chance to learn more, but when he heard that the mare behind the counter was a rock farmer too, he stood up tall and walked up to the stand as well. Since Red Dreamer and Blinkie Pie were talking, he decided to just look at what Blinkie had with her, until she included him in the conversation.
-
Blinkie smirked at Whim, and excused herself from her conversation. She cleared her throat, a bit nervous. She honestly didn't expect anypony to show up, let alone two.
"Hi-..hello, fine sir. Are you interested in taking a once-in-a lifetime trip to a dangerous abandoned mineshaft a few miles north of this podunk town? Well, if so, all I need from you is a 50 bit deposit and your signature.
The grey earth pony passed a sheet over to the stallion, trying to stay professional. These were really the first ponies she had met that weren't business partners of her father or friends of her mother.
-
Whim lifted his eyes from Blinkie's stall as she spoke to him, smiling back at her with genuine happiness at how she regarded him. "Ma'am, I am quite interested in this adventure. The ground is where I love to be, so exploring down inside it would be a great pleasure." Whim carefully slipped his hoof into his saddlebag, feeling around for his bits. He found what he needed and pulled them out for Blinkie. "If you would be so kind as to sign me up, I would be most appreciative. My name is Whim." Whim bowed slightly with his head and lifted his hoof with the bits up over the counter so as to give them to the polite pony across from him.
-
Blinkie giggled silently at his courteous bow, taking his bits and tucking them into her leather saddlebags. She wrote his name on the list, relaxing.
"I'm Blinkie Pie, rock farmer, miner, and mineral salespony. So glad to finally meet another pony with my same love of the ground."
She leaned forward, smiling, her head atop one of her hooves, worn from traversing thousands of feet into the earth.
"It's just so fascinating, down there, with a matte and a feeling of determination, isn't it?"
-
Whim shook his head slightly, straightening back up to look the Blinkie in the eye. "I regretfully have not ventured below the surface myself. My magic gives me an understanding of the world beneath our feet, so that is why I am so interested in going down and seeing some of what I feel." He then nodded at his own thought, "Also, it is nice to meet another rock farmer from the area. It has been some time since I last met one. My magic lent itself to the business, so I went with it," he said with a slight shrug.
-
She nodded, "I've always feared that rock farming was a dying art, but it looks like it may have some hope beyond me." She smiled at him.
"I assure you, if you have any qualms about your safety, that I will take you, without harm, through the mine. I've got everything, mattes, pickaxes, headlights, safety ropes, even a couple knives in case we encounter a few..dangerous creatures. But, still, it will be quite perilous."
(Feel free to respond, but I have to go for now, school in the morning. To any users that want to join up, just put 50 bits in the bin, sign your name, and wait at the park!)
-
Whirl Wind had just gotten off of work, he was quite happy with how organized he was. He had single hoofedly set the weather schedule for the next month. That meant he had a month off of work, to do what ever he pleased. "Now all I have to do is find out what I will do for a month..." He thought as he was flying home. He noticed a stall with a couple of ponies standing in front of it. Curiosity drove him to find out what the buzz was all about. He noticed the sign and all it said was SIGNUP. "But for what?" He wondered as he waited behind a tan unicorn.
He had picked up on some of the conversation and followed what the other ponies had done. He placed 50 bits in the bin and signed his name. He was quite excited about the prospect of going on an adventure.
-
Blinkie's eyelids drooped, and she yawned. She hung up a sign that read CLOSED.
"Goodnight, everypony. Just put 50 bits in this here collection bin, and sign your name."
The petite mare pulled out a bin, along with paper and a pen. She yawned once more, and lies down on a pillow at the bottom of the stand. She was saving up to get a house in Ponyville soon, but..there were just more important things.
(So so sorry I've got to go, but academic causes await tomorrow. Goodnight, and I'll be back ASAP, I promise!)
-
"Good night, ma'am, I will go set up my farm for my time away, then I will meet you in the park." Whim turned and went to walk away, but almost ran into the green pegasus who had arrived. "Excuse me, sir," he said as he halted. He saw him signing the roster, "Another adventurer, I see. Well seeing as we are both going on this expedition, my name is Whim, may I inquire as to your name, sir?"
-
Whirl rolled his eyes. "Formal ponies..." He thought to himself as he gave a smile. He wasn't even looking Whim in the eyes yet. "Whirl Wind, please don't call me sir or mister or anything fancy. Just Whirl if you would." He said sincerely. He looked to Whim and said, "Let me guess, you are from Canterlot?" Whirl inquired with a smirk.
-
Red remained silent, watching the conversation between the other two ponies, she noticed the other was a tad fancy for the lack of a better term.
"You seem a little well-mannered for a rock farmer. she said to the sandy-colored pony.
-
Whim chuckled, “I’m sorry, Whirl. I was trying to be respectful, I will take note that you wish for me to abate the gallantry. Now, how did you know I’m from Canterlot? Most ponies just ask me where I’m from because of my tone, they don’t normally know.” He held a slight smile on his face. It was interesting to Whim to meet a pony who could immediately know where he was from, it made him quite curious.
-
Whirl kept his smile on his face. "Oh I have been around. So far the only ponies I know who greet others in such a way are from Canterlot, or Trottingham. And since you do not have an accent, I assumed you were from Canterlot."" He explained a bit bluntly. "Yeah, traveling was my life for a long time. So was hard work, and hard work still is a big part of my life. So something like this will be a breeze."
-
Red gave a confused look, "You've done stuff like this before?" she asked Whirl. "How much exactly of this kind of stuff have you done?"
-
Suddenly, a yawn comes from the stand, and Blinkie Pie rises up.
"Ah, good morning!"
The mare looks around, and gasps, seeing that a third pony came to sign up. She regains her composure, despite being quite nervous.
"Umm~..*ahem*..welcome, welcome!"
She looks to Whirl Wind, "Have I received your bit deposit, good stallion?"
-
Before Whirl got to answer Red he heard a yawn. "Uhh, yes Miss...?" he said to inquire her name. He was surprised she had only slept such a short time before waking up again.
-
Blinkie shakes the sleep out of her eyes, and stretches her legs.
"Blinkie Pie, rock farmer, miner, and mineral salespony."
The earth pony slid forward a sheet with 2 names already scrawled on it, "May I get your signature, Mr.."
-
Whirl looked at the sheet and blushed as he realized he had not fully signed his name. "Whirl Wind, Blinkie. A pleasure to meet you." He said as he finished the final process of filling in his name. "This sounds like it will be a good test of strength." He gave a huge grin at the prospect of doing some actual hard work for a change.
-
She giggled quietly, and tucked the sheet away.
"Now, Mr. Wind, do you have any experience with mining? Being hundreds, possibly thousands of feet under the ground?"
-
Whirl shook his head. "Nope, but I am no stranger to heavy lifting and hard work. I will do what I can or what is needed of me for sure." He gave her a reassuring look just in case she didn't buy the speech.
-
She nodded.
"I see, I see...well then, would you like some of your equipment while we're waiting?"
-
Whirl gave her a wider grin. "Of course! I want to see the load I am carrying and such." He was getting excited now. "A real adventure! This is going to be great!" he thought as he waited for her to give him what he needed.
-
Blinkie grins, and begins to rummage around in the back of the stand, eventually pulling out a bevy of items and equipment.
"Alright..you've got your helmet, with headlight, sleeping bag, pack with food and water, pickaxe, shovel, safety ropes and harness, trench spike, and survival knife. You never know what dangers do lurk down there."
-
Whirl started the gear up. Once he was done putting it all on he bent his knees to test the load. It was not heavy for him at all. He was even able to fly with ease as he tested his strength. "Oh yeah, piece of cake." He said as he landed again.
-
Whim chuckled looking upon what he will need for the adventure. "Um, I will not need the pickaxe, shovel, or trench spikes. But can I get my supplies as well?" He looked up at Blinkie with a smile. "This is going to be fun!"
-
She smirked a bit, and shook her head slightly.
"Oh, Mr. Whim, I assure you, you will need at least one of these. Most likely the trench spike, for a bit of self defense. It can get rather dangerous, so please, take it anyway."
She passed over all of his supplies, leaving back only the pickaxe and the shovel.
"Now, do you really think that four ponies is enough, or should we wait, hm?"
-
Whim shrugged, "If you insist, but as a warning, I most likely will just be carrying it as decoration. My magic is made for this kind of expedition, so I would probably tend toward that rather than brute force. And to answer your question," Whim looked around at the other ponies,"We may want to wait a hair longer and see if anyone else comes." He picked up his gear and started to equip it all.
-
((I'm going to be forced to drop out, I can't keep up with the RP while I'm at school.))
-
(Ah, so sorry to hear that, Dante! If you ever find the time, you can always come back!)
-
-
Blinkie cringed, and blushed slightly as her stomach rumbles. She rubbed the back of her neck, and looked around.
"Hey, uh, you guys wanna go get something to eat? I could tell you about the expedition. Don't worry, we've got time, we leave on Friday."
She prepared to flip the sign for the stand to DIY, a sheet of paper and bit collection bin already laid out.
-
Whirl smiled, he was quite excited about getting something to eat after a long day. "Sounds like a plan to me. Where do you want to go?" He asked happily. He shifted his look between Blinkie and Whim quickly.
((Sorry to hear that Dante. :( ))
-
"Well, I haven't been to any places here myself, but I did see a nice looking place not too far from here."
She smiled eagerly at both Whim and Whirl, her eyes excited as she listened intently for their ideas.
