Don't rush things young one (derailing the thread now, I am)
Don't label yourself as 'forever' alone. For starters - from what I have observed - you are a lovely person so sooner or later someone (interested enough) will make an effort to get to know you better and will discover that fact.
Secondly, shyness is not something that can not be worked on and people change (even without additional effort, but with it changes will come quicker) - you'll surely reduce it from the 'hindering' to the 'cute amount of shy' with time.
Laslty: Really? Belgian girls should know better than that. (but I'm certain that not every Belgian girl has the same taste when it comes to boys)
Just give it time ...and practice. I'm not saying you should pull Albert Ellis* but trying to talk with them from time to time will help.
*Ellis had exaggerated fears of speaking in public and during his adolescence he was extremely shy around women. At age 19, already showing signs of thinking like a cognitive-behavioral therapist, he forced himself to talk to 100 women in the Bronx Botanical Gardens over a period of a month. Even though he did not get a date, he reported that he desensitized himself to his fear of rejection by women.
