Abstract Thoughts #59: Fix Fics

While FiM is a rather high-quality show, that doesn't mean it can't screw up at times. Whenever those times may be, fans will often respond with that most famous of fan tools: fanfiction.

To use TV Tropes terminology, a "fix fic" is a fic created with the intention of addressing and/or correcting a certain problem the writer has with the work it's based on. To give an FiM example, some people were unhappy with how Twilight's friends treated her after she accused Cadance in A Canterlot Wedding. In response, one fan created "Post Nupitals", a fic where Twilight's friends regret their actions and have to deal with the consequences. Incredibly, at least one fan felt that that fic still went too easy on them, which led to the creation of "Faith and Doubt", a fic where Twilight's friends' treatment sends her over the edge. Yep, a fix fic of a fix fic. Of course, that's just one example; just look at the TV Tropes page to see other examples.
